Frome Birth Talk Needs Your Help: Why Monthly Donors Matter More Than Ever
At Frome Birth Talk, we’re proud to offer free counselling and daily drop‑in peer‑support groups for anyone in the Frome area who is pregnant, has had a baby in the last two years, or has experienced baby loss. Our doors are open to every parent who needs us: no waiting lists, no fees, no barriers.

But keeping our service free takes real, ongoing support from the community. And right now, we urgently need more people to join us as monthly donors.
Why monthly giving matters
Many of our clients choose to donate after receiving support, and we’re incredibly grateful for this. But the truth is that monthly donations are what keep us going. They allow us to plan ahead, stay sustainable, and make sure our counselling remains free for families who simply cannot afford therapy elsewhere.
As Lucy Hill, our Operations Manager, puts it:
“Everyone in our community knows someone who has been helped by Frome Birth Talk. Having a bank of regular monthly donors allows us to plan ahead, stay sustainable, and keep our service free for families who need us most. Even a monthly donation of £2 or £5 is a powerful way to show your support.”
Where we are now, and where we need to be
Right now, we receive around £750 per month in regular donations. To keep our specialist perinatal counselling free at the point of use, we need to double this to £1,500 per month.
We receive around 200 referrals every year, and with no government or institutional funding, we rely entirely on the generosity of local people. The NHS simply doesn’t have capacity to offer this kind of support at scale, but our community does.
How you can help
If you’re able to give a small monthly amount, it genuinely makes a huge difference. And if you can’t donate right now, you can still support us by sharing this message with someone who might be able to.
Becoming a monthly donor is quick and easy: just visit our LocalGiving page here.
Thank you for helping us keep this vital service free for the families who need it most.
