Founder of Frome Birth Talk, Karen Patrick, has stepped down from the board of trustees after almost nine years of dedicated service.
In 2017, local midwife Karen had an idea: to support women and families with their mental health in pregnancy and after birth. Karen founded Frome Birth Talk and, along with a team of passionate mothers, her aim was to provide counselling for just 15 people per year.

In 2025, 187 people referred to our service for 1:1 mental health support - without fear of financial strain or long waiting lists. An incredible achievement.
After serving two busy terms as a founding trustee, and filling our meeting rooms with ideas, compassion and tenacious drive, Karen has now stepped down from her role on the board.
We would like to thank Karen for not only being an incredible trustee, but for having the bravery and strength to bring Frome Birth Talk into being all those years ago.
We wouldn't be here without you, and local families wouldn't have such brilliant access to support in their community.
Here's to Karen, a proper local hero. 💖🙌🎉
