Help shape the future of perinatal mental health support in Frome

Frome Birth Talk is seeking an experienced and compassionate Clinical Lead (Perinatal Mental Health Services) to provide clinical leadership and oversight for our growing counselling service.

We support people during pregnancy, early parenthood, and following pregnancy or baby loss through free and low-cost counselling and peer support. As demand for our services continues to increase, we are creating this new role to strengthen safeguarding, clinical governance and quality assurance, ensuring our service continues to grow safely, ethically and sustainably.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of a respected local charity making a real difference to parents, babies and families.

About the Role

Working closely with the Director, staff team, counsellors, trustees and external supervisors, you will provide strategic clinical leadership across our counselling services.

The role includes:

  • Providing clinical oversight and guidance across counselling services.

  • Leading on safeguarding and risk management.

  • Supporting clinical governance, quality assurance and policy development.

  • Building and maintaining relationships with external clinical supervisors.

  • Supporting counsellors, volunteers and student placements.

  • Advising on service development and future therapeutic provision.

  • Developing partnerships with statutory and voluntary sector organisations.

This is not a clinical supervision role. While you will oversee supervision arrangements and support safe practice, you will not be expected to provide supervision directly to student counsellors or volunteers.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Professionally qualified and registered with an appropriate body such as BACP, UKCP, HCPC, NMC or Social Work England.

  • Experienced in therapeutic, mental health or related clinical practice.

  • Knowledgeable about safeguarding, risk management and clinical governance.

  • Passionate about delivering high-quality, trauma-informed support.

  • A confident relationship builder, able to work collaboratively within a small charity.

  • Committed to improving outcomes for parents, babies and families.

Professional knowledge or experience of perinatal mental health, pregnancy loss, baby loss or bereavement support would be particularly valuable.

Why Join Us?

Frome Birth Talk is the only local voluntary organisation providing timely access to specialist counselling for people experiencing mental health difficulties during pregnancy, early parenthood and following pregnancy or baby loss.

Our counselling service helps parents access support before difficulties reach crisis point, and our outcomes demonstrate significant improvements in wellbeing, functioning and reduction in risk factors.
